No timing belt, cams are chain driven. Fuel system is all electronic and black magic and timed by an ECU.

Thanks, I once had a timing belt break on a petrol Land Rover 109 years ago. I was about to set off to Whitby to go fishing and noted the vehicle did not seem to be sounding right. Took it into a local garage for a professional opinion and they said it was OK. Half way across the North York moors there was an almighty bang and that was that. About 1,400 quids worth if my memory serves me well. (thats a Land Rover 109 not 109 years ago!)

Do I take it that the chain driving the cams will last the life of the vehicle?

It is not a service item so yes. In 2012 JLR updated the engine oil specification (Ford spec) to WSS-M2C913D and for vehicles fitted with a DPF to spec WSS-M2C934-B. Reading between the lines I think this was in part to lubricate the chain better, possibly because ford transits which use the same engine were having a few chain problems.
