Hi

I'm still on the look out for a defender 110 hard top, I'm after a post 2006 to allow in the London Emission zone.
I thought I had found quite a good one, was year 2007, someone has said to me that as 2006 was the year the new updated defender came out you would be much better off buying from 2008 to of allowed 2 years for any issues that had arisen to of been ironed out (hopefully)
Does this sound like a good idea?
Thoughts appreciated
Thanks

In my experience the new ones are as bad as the old ones, same for the newer still ones...theyre all landys after all!

I don't wanna hear of 10 plates having problems...;)
Would I be right I hope in assuming that the doors and windows don't leak like an old 83 3series would? And are considerably quieter?

So are you after the late TD5 or the early Puma? I seem to remember a lot of people complaining about gearbox reliability on early Puma models. I don't go to London often but the last time I checked on the Low Emission Zone webpages, apparently I'm allowed in with my 2006 TD5.

Right, ok that's interesting / worrying to know.
It was the puma I'm looking at as I was fairly sure after checking that anything pre 2007 wasn't allowed in the LEZ.
Thanks for the heads up on the gear box

Well, there was a thing on the website where you could put the registration number in and it told you whether you were allowed or not, and apparently I was at the time (September 2013). Of course, legislation may change and there may be differences between station wagon, van, pickup etc.

I was wondering because I'd heard the same as you, including discussions on here. Which was why I checked.

Great. They don't seem to be as stringent as people make out. Just goes to show, it's always better to check for yourself.
