hi guys! i just registered and this will be my very first post. i'm from manila, philippines and i just recently acquired a 1997 300tdi defender110. so far i am so happy with it except for the "harsh" ride. i actually would want to take this oppurtunity in asking you guys' expert opinion on what's the softest spring and damper combination for daily drive and occasional weekend adventure?

people around me think i'm crazy for going from a P38 range rover to a discovery 1 300tdi and now a defender 110. they say i just keep on downgrading but for me, its what floats your boat. and i love the defender. :) hope to hear from you guys soon! cheers! :)

Welcome!

Generally the original Land Rover springs are the most compliant. If your 110 does not have the load leveler on the rear, you could switch to the springs used with the load leveler, they are softer than the ones use din trucks without the load leveler.

My 110 has no self leveler and standard rear springs which had gone soft. I added an extra pair of helper springs inside my originals. That gives me the load carrying ability of my previous 110 but without the harsh ride of the HD springs that I'd fitted to my previous landy.

thanks guys! really appreciate it. :) by the way, a friend told me that the best combination for damper and springs are bilstein and old emu? i mean, he says its a the softest ride compared to the rest. how true is this? any one had experience/s with them?

Welcome
I too have a 110
I have replaced the stiff raised (2") springs to standard soft ones as well as standard dampers. rides alot better than before
Cheers

what did ya do with the old springs? ;)

oh and :welcome: pinoy, i did the same as you started with a p38 then disco and finally a 110 and to me its the best thing i did :) less electrics, lees things to fail :p

stay tuned.. this week will be the trip to the paint shop to address certain bodywork and paint. i would want the car to be as original as possible, so there is no washover paint job or changing in color since the car is still in its original paint. more updates to follow :)
