Hello... I am sorry I don't know too much about the mechanics of my car, I just abuse and use it...

I did notice a while ago (when I got the car serviced) I had some oil dripping from the bottom of the gearbox thing (under the car), not a lot. I, as any good owner would do, ignored it.

Today, I noticed a puddle of oil on the lever that I use to out it into diff lock.

I've undone both knobs on the gear and diff lock stick, removed the rubber gasket, and can see more oil (clear and clean) cumming up the diff lock stick. When I push it down, a bit out of squirts up through the gap between the shaft of the stick and the rubber gasket/seal.

Their are 4 screws holding the rubber thing down, I did not remove, but I guess the seal at the top has broken/worn out and needs replacing.

I am happier that this has happened than a gasket on the gear box itself has leaked and has caused the oil at the bottom of the engine.

The car does not pull loads, nor go off road much. Just the odd field.

Suggestions please. And please tell me my landi will be well ... Pwease :)

extension housing that holds gear stick turret and hi/low housing has the top selector shaft runs through it it has an o ring which will be worn ,worth checking gear box breather pipe to

Thanks James. If I get a hayes manual is this a DIY job ?

I've work with cars before (when I was a kid) and I can refurb houses, so I've got a decent level of competency and a car load of tools... Alas, I don't think I will be using my Sthil Petrol Disc cutter for this one !

Paul...

youd need to remove tunnel and either undo seat box enough to undo the 4 bolts holding housing housing to rear of gear box ,after removing linkage ,shaft has a yoke at one end and a quadrant at the other once removed shaft will push through rear core plug hole enough to replace o ring ,if you have a go give us a shout
