dead rev counter

1.8 5 door freelander 53 reg
driving along the other day and first the TC light came on then HILL DECENT light came on
followed by the rev counter and temp gauge both dropped.
engine still run fine .
is this a bad earth but once you turn ign off then back on all is fine again,

ps have had this freelander for 4 years now and its the first issue .

Check the multi-plugs on the engine ECU, ABS modulator and Ipack. It sounds like a CAN bus fault. These sorts of faults seem to be on the increase.
