Hi, Anyone had this before, used my 1999 P38 4.6 this morning and all was ok, left it in the drive all day and when I went to start it this afternoon I turned the key the dash lights came on but only for just a split second, as I went to start the engine then everything went dead, the engine didn't even turn. No power at all, no lights on dash, interior or exterior. I didn't know what to do but I tried to lock the car thinking that it would not work but it locked! I then unlocked the car and all is now back to normal it started first time. I am now worried there is a fault waiting to get me when I am not expecting it!!
Any ideas would be a help. Thanks:confused:

Had a new battery last year, it turns the engine over fine. Don't think this was a battery fault as the car started ok after I had locked and unlocked it. I cant make out why there was not even any power to light the interior lights but the central locking worked!!

sounds to me like the system didn't initially recognise your key and shut your system down. By locking and unlocking the car, you re-primed the system to your key. It could be the battery needs replacing in your key fob (although a message should show up on your dashboard). If you can, carry the second key set around with you and if the car does the same thing with your first key, switch to the second set and see if the car starts, if so, you know the problem is in your primary key transmitter - good luck

All sorted ( I think) the car was in the garage recently and had the battery disconected when I checked at first all seemed to be ok but then i found out that the positive lead had not been tightened!! and was loose. I think it may have just lost its conection. Thanks to all.
