I got underneith her today to get the down pipe off to replace with a stainless de-cat, i didn't have to unbolt anything but the exhaust which i'm quite happy about :) but when it came to fitting the decat it wasn't as easy :( the origional pipe has a bendy bit in which ment i could bend it to get it out but the replacement is solid pipe. My question is: what do i have to take off to be able to get it on? it's looking to me like i'll have to unbolt the crossmember under the gearbox and take the anti roll bar off? or is it easier to take the front end apart (ie, bumper off rad's out ect) and slide it in from the front?

Thanks, Sam

I haven't done this yet, but others have and all say it is straight forward. I think you jack the car up and rest the chassis on axle stands and then push the new pipe in from the front....but someone who really knows will come along soon

from what i can see is if i slide it in from the top of engine bay the ARB gets in the way but if i do it from underneith the arb and the gearbox crossmember gets in the way, i'll try again in the morning

sam, jack the car up as high as you can'put some good axle stands under the chassis then lower it down so your front axle drops as far as poss you will then be able to slide the new pipe in from underneath and twist it up to meet with the manifold, thats how i fitted mine ;)

Jacking up the chassis not the axle is the really important bit, as this creates the space which allows you to pass the new downpipe through from the front.

When I do them I jack up the front chassis cross rail (just behind the rad iirc) and place good quality 6ton axle stands there. Ensure the front wheels remain just touching the ground, as this will ensure the largest amount of working space.
