Are you referring to a 7" LED headlight with DRL and indicators built in?

If when the ignition is switched on which should automatically illuminate the DRLs then the trailer warning light should not illuminate. The chances are that it would be a MOT defect as the warning switch is not operating as required. Now it might be debatable if that is a minor or major defect.

There are at least a couple of possibilities. Bad earth somewhere or poor quality DRL's.
Have a close look at the markings on the lens
It should have an approval marking on which will include the light function code RL. For a LED headlight it should have light function code H/CR and 1/1/1b for indicator. If those markings are not on the light then they are not road legal and the quality of the light unit could be questioned.

Sounds like a bad earth sending current in the wrong direction, assuming it's not a wiring error. DRL should be wired to their own switched power supply, and should dim or switch off when you turn the sidelights on. There shouldn't be any connection to the indicators except where they connect to earth.

im afraid I can't help here, BUT I just thought I would butt in to add I also have the trailer light on constantly I fitted some LED DRLs just plug and play from paddocks website, and this happened no wiring was changed. I did some googling and found that others had this issue but I couldn't find a fix so I guess its wait untill MOT day and cross fingers.

Glad to know its not just me. The paddock ones look identical to the Amazon ones tbh, I nearly got those instead, just was in a hurry and nobody at home and Amazon delivery is easier to manage than DPD, royal mail, etc in those circumstances.Turned out to be a nightmare as there were some parts missing and an Amazon drop ship, so getting the right parts was a pain to say the least going round in circles with Amazon: (we will give you a refund er...they are fitted; we still give you refund; er no, I have spent hours installing and would have to do more to uninstall, just send the missing part; we authorise refund; no.... Amazon even rejected a negative review as it was not a fair review ????).

Moral of story: get from Paddocks!. On that note, have you asked paddocks???

On MOT note - Do they test a tow bar in an MOT? Just remove the bulb / trailer fuse for MOT???

i haven't thought anything of it, but hey why not just hook up a trailer for the MOT day and then its legitimately working ay.... last year my mums landy had a baby seat fitted in the front and the mot noted is as " unable to check passenger seat belt as baby seat fitted. so a tip to any one with frayed belts fit a rogue baby seat in and you're in the clear...... but seriously tho if your belts knackered get that thing replaced ;)

Land Rovers are Fickle bastids aren’t they :D they are never happy no matter what you do :D
surly that's not possible, after 70 years they must have erradicated casues of rust and corrosion in a 4x4??? surely there was a follow-up to the water ingress manual :D:D:D:confused::rolleyes:o_O

Can't help, although that seems a complex way of doing something simple. Surly a DLR just needs an ignition live.....

Personally just turning the sidelights on looks a lot less gay :p and doesn't try and dazzle people ;)

remember I drive a lot through france, where both the latter are an advantage :)

Hope this helps answer your Q.

This may be where a current leakage is lighting the trailer light. It's worth disconnecting them to prove if this is the case.
Its definitely the lights, interesting you think its current leakage... or the way its wired is the way a trailer connects??? may try hooking them up differently!

The indicator/trailer relay responds to additional current draw (from trailer lights) in the indicator circuit. LEDS should provide little current draw, however, unless you have the specific relay fitted that allows you to adjust the point where the trailer light come on (the one with the little knob on it) any additional draw on the indicator circuit may fool the relay into thinking additional lights are fitted.
