hi

Well I’ve started wiring the fuse box etc into my upper glove box

Runs off the aux battery via a relay, so when the ign source is removed will kill the power to the fuse box

It’s to run ancillaries , ie dashcam, aux battery volt meter etc

Enclosed an example of what the panel looks like installed , it will replace my cig lighter panel

Fitted my panel today

Tested my iPad into the USB port to check the amp side was working ok , even re plugged the cheap volt meter back in and can see its pretty accurate for such a cheap item

Ran my aux battery wire to the glove box ready for when I install the fuse box which I’ve nearly finished pre wiring

Have an outside temperature indicator on the instrument panel, so the one I fitted reads the inside cabin temperature

Don’t think it looks too bad

Very neat and tidy :)

Need to put some USB sockets in our D1's - but can't decide where to put 'em  - they're a bit advanced for a D1 :D .....

Many thks, took me ages to ensure the wires were all hidden away, there was 2 x cig lighter outlets so powered the panel into 2 x halves , inc they are all correctly fused

Next job will be to get the aux glove box fuse box in , wire is rated at 32amps, thinking of putting a 20 x amp fuse into the relay and then 5 x amps for the separate items to be wired into that aux fuse box

Got to pick up a switched live, there’s plenty of empty places on the passenger side fuse box, will just use a piggy back fuse for that

On the left hand side there are 2 x connections , one will be for a fused wire to come from the fuse box, the other connection is to come from the aux battery

So when I turn the ign off the aux glove fuse box power will be killed

Can’t believe it’s taken me so much time , but like us all, do it properly and once , as I know it will all be correctly fused accordingly

Can u get a panel for the D1 for some usbs ports or is it a case of finding that suitable area

Well, some D1's had a fag lighter in the rear of the centre cubby .... so I guess that's a good space .... the issue is finding the time between quack appointments and what passes for "work" to get far enough into the wiring ( and the :mad::mad: trim !!!) to find a switched live in the right area .... I'm currently thinking of taking a feed of the lecky windows for a relay - so that the extra bits come live with the ignition, and go dead with ignition orft, after the time limit set by the MFU .....

Orft to the quacks again now

Indeed know what u mean when trying to find that ideal space , I’ve done the same ref a ign live via a relay so will kill the power to that aux fuse box , just got to get round installing that lot, lol

More importantly Hope ur ok buddy

I'm fine thanks my friend :)

One thing about going to quack and outpatient appointments is that you see folk who are really VERY unwell :( which is scary and reassuring in equal measure

I'll keep taking the tablets:rolleyes:

How's your back ?

Hi buddy

Indeed , know what u mean when u start looking round at others in hospital , makes u count ur blessings

Back is driving me insane as always , brain always wants to do a lot more but my back soon puts the brakes on

Need to fit my new AC condenser , front bumper off, will then use my air compressor via its dryer so I don’t put damp air in , to put a little bit of air in to see if there’s any more leaks , once it’s ok in pressure will then pull a vacuum to ensure when it’s recharged will be 100%

So a continuation of this thread

Removed the dashboard trim parts , to also find more bodges that someone else has done

Wires go to a Nokia Bluetooth box, CW7 I think

Found my upper glove box connector

The trim tool in the pic I found ideal getting the upper glove box liner out

As u also look at that glovebox, the red and black wires in the left are from my aux battery

Red wire on the right hand side is from my aux battery volt gauge

Will take all the insulating tape off to see how they’ve joined it , also see they’ve cut a yellow wire ??

Want to connect an aux supply into the back of my radio so I can connect an iPod

Might have to instead of connecting at the back of the radio but the other end of the wire which lives by the passengers footwell behind the panel

Also pick up a switched live from the fuse box using a piggy back fuse , looking at F42 is says it’s for an amp to which I’ve not gone one fitted so going to see if anything else is off that fuse circuit

Few piccies

Fitted my new AC condensor , just need to reconnect everything, waiting for new stainless steel bolts to replace the horrible torx bolts

So been looking at the fuse layout ref fuse F42 , is labelled for an audio amp, haven’t got one

Can only see the amp on that as I want to use that for my ign switched live source , via a piggy back fuse

Don’t think fuse F42 is a switched live

Now looking at fuse F19 , middle seat row cig lighter fuse , looks like a switched live for when the engine is running and off when key removed

So confirmed the fuse F19 is a switched live, perfect

Made up a piggy back fuse , will put some heatshrink on when I cut it to length

My upper glove box aux fuse box, all done via a relay so aux fuse box will switch off when the ign live goes off

Gauge panel underneath glove box already fitted

This drives me insane , removed the black insulating tape to find no heat shrink anywhere

What a lash up, will sort all that out

Will connect my aux iPod supply into the back of the radio , along with tidying it all up and ensuring it’s properly
done

Also 2 x wires cut and just left bare
