after 4 months of no problems, the disco ( 2001 ) has come up with another problem

there is a ding noise, then most of the dash warning show up, varius adjustable suspension lights, the abs the TC and the hand brake warning, turning the ignion resets it for a few miles and then it does it again, seems to drive ok

any ideas ?

You sure it's the dash lights 'playing up' or are they telling you there's a few faults?

what, everything which has a warning light on the dash go's faulty all at the same time ?.

im sure ive got a fault (or two), any know what it may be

thanks

eh? I was asking if everything comes on, or if just a few come on ... who else can tell but you?

First you say 'most' of the warning lights, so it might help f you said exactly what's happening, rather than asking another question as you have above.

You need to be clear what's happening for someone to make a remote diagnosis as we can't see the dash and we're not feckin' psychic!! .. if you say most, but then say all, that might be two different symptoms with two different fixes.

eg, if the suspension lights are coming up, with the abs lights, then it's likely to be the air compressor or at least the air system (valve block, manifold etc) that's at fault.

If it's every light on the dash it's likely to be a main fuse or an earth fault, so if you want help you need to be fairly specific in what you tell people the symptoms are.

Also, are the lights coming up when you first turn the key to start, will it start fine, does it do it whilst running, when it gets hot, when you turn on A/C, when you stop, brake hard, whatever (these are examples).

remove the fuse box from the drivers knee locker, it's held on with a single bolt.

check the back side of the fusebox for green copper oxide and clean it if needed.

There is a microchip in the fusebox called the IDM which controls the intrument pack. The windscreen leak water on these and cause them to oxidise over time, this plays havock with the intruments.

After you put it back, put the ignition to position 2 and leave it there for 5 mins without starting the engine, this will sync the IDM with the other ECU's on the car
