Help me out here if you can please...
I usually hardwire my dash cam to the cigarette lighter fuse.
I tried this on my Freelander 2 2013 using fuse F52 but it appears to be permanently live...?
Can anyone suggest an alternative fuse please or is F52 ok?
Many thanks

I know nothing of Freelanders, but many cars have their cig. lighter wired battery live. This is handy for accessories but not if you leave inquisitive kids in the car :(
When I hard-wired a dashcam into my RRC I just poked around under the dash with a multi-meter until I found an ignition live.

Many thanks for the advice... multi reader on order
It won’t be difficult to find a fuse for a ignition switch control circuit as most of them are.
But check the fuse you have found with your owners handbook and that fuse isn’t for a critical circuit ie, SRS, ABS, engine management and all the others circuit that have a ECU attached, an ECU or a sensor may not like another electronic device like a dash cam being attached to their circuit.
The switched supply to the radio is a good one to tap into.

In my case I'd had a retro-fitted defunct alarm removed when I bought the car 10 years ago so I figured that there must be a ign. live lurking somewhere. Having found it I check that it remained constantly live & tapped into it, saved messing about with the fuse-box as the cam has it's own fuse.
