I have been told that as the corrosion is bad in the "triangular" shapes and around the water gallery holes that its not worth getting tested - i just hope the other head is ok or its going to start getting expensive

who told you that ,its not the worst by any degree ive seen ,gasket doesnt seal on edge of water ways ,i wouldnt bother with testing any cracks will be visible, skim yes in this case

The triangular corrosion is deeper than it looks in the pics - using my thumbnail as a guide it is around 2mm deep - so a skim won't remove it all - same with the pitting round the waterways on the face of the head

as long as it does break into the fire ring or around were water ways seal and isnt through to water jacket it doesnt really matter ,but if you have a better head fit it

At the moment the cylinder head is sat in the living room  - the mrs aint too happy about it  should be able to get the head off the old engine in the next few days and decide which 1 is going for the pressure test & skim - hopefully the engineering place will be open by then and all the bits i've ordered should have arrived too.............. after a good look at the old radiator i've decided to replace it as its badly corroded inside................

one of the two cylinder heads i've got is going to the engineering place today for a pressure test and skim............... still waiting for the new gasket and bolts though :( so it's not getting fixed soon.................

Well another busy day.......................... Took the head off the old engine (190k) that i removed from the 90 and had a look at the head - noticed that there are very small fine cracks from the glowplug holes :( so decided to get the newer head (pics of on thread) pressure tested and skimmed - dropped it off at the engineering place this afternoon and should have it back tomorrow - fingers crossed all is well............... pics of the cracks on the old head below.......................
