Dakar Rally 2010

The Dakar Rally is on 1 - 18 Jan 2010. From Buenas Aires (Arg) to Santiago (Chile) and back to BA. I'm looking at taking my L-Rover Discovery to follow the event.

I am based in Salta, Argentina.

The idea is to follow the event and look at a few touristy things along the way. We will be camping (in the desert outback) or hosteling close to any towns. With more people involved the cost becomes alot cheaper.

I was under the impression that the Dakar rally ran from Paris to Dakar?

The Dakar lost interest when they stoped doing it from Paris...
fair enough that it was still done Lisbon-Dakar... but not the same..

but now..Argentina?????

Still, better Argentina than getting shot by a hi-lux load of fuzzy-wuzzies with AK47's!!
