Hello

I have a 2010 discovery and over the last few days the car alarm randomly goes off. I have read it could be a alarm cct board battery? Or possibly a faulty bonnet switch? I’m not getting anything on the dash saying bonnet open.

Are there any common causes of this or can I tell the reason the alarm has gone off?

thanks

Plus 1 with regards to the battery , can cause havoc , do u have a sunroof plse

try linking out ur bonnet catch first , then go round opening every door and boot and close them again , see how u get on

Lastly have u got a code reader plse

hope that helps a little

Always suspect the interior sensors, spiders or the damp can be buggers.
On the D3 a double click on the fob lock button switches off the interior sensors, not sure on the D4.

Going back on what I said about my battery now which did test 12.5v standing, 14.4v charging and dropped as low as 10.5v when starting. Also, has a green light on to say good condition.

it’s been stood for 2 days on the drive unlocked but I got in this morning and it said on the dash “low battery, please start engine”

are there any other tests that can be done to determine the battery is the culprit before I buy another

thanks

Those numbers aren't bad, has it been fully charged off the vehicle? Might see you through winter but unlikely next year.
Does this car have 2 batteries? Think some do

Where would the 2nd battery be located? Im wondering if over 24 hours or more, the voltage is dropping and it’s just bought to cause this.

If u have a second battery I think it’s in one of the boot side lockers , also believe the 2nd battery is for a stop start system

hope u don’t mind me adding but if u do fit a new battery ur need diagnostics to tell the system it’s been changed

may I ask how old is ur battery please and can u read what the AH and CCS are on it plse , thks

Plus u could always drop into Halfords as they can test ur battery for u, then if it’s faulty could get a new one fitted there and then , personally bought my battery for my D3 from Halfords as then if something goes wrong with the battery u don’t have the hassle of trying to send it back if bought online , plus many couriers won’t take a battery because of the acid

hope that also helps
