I have a Discovery 3 TDV6 first registered 30/11/04, which I purchased used in April 2007. It is a basic 7 seat other than Climate Pack and Power fold mirrors. As I plan to keep long-term I’m happy it has got fewer things to go wrong.

So far, the only warranty claims I’ve made are for a new header tank (false sensor indication) and a split CV joint gaiter. However, before my warranty, extended to 12 months from purchase, runs out in a couple of weeks, I’m in 2 minds as to whether I can legitimately claim for wear on the rear seat squabs. Either side of the vertical seams on the squab, there are lots of loose ends on the material either side of the seams (I wouldn’t call it pilling, as its not in balls, and the seams themselves have not frayed significantly). I think its partly my fault because I tend to throw bags in the footwell rather than in the boot. Do you think I have any grounds for a warranty claim or am I being obsessive (you can be honest!) or are there grounds to regard it as a fault. I’d appreciate your view as I know the dealer will say “fair wear and tear”

If I was the dealer and you turned up trying to claim for that under the warranty I would tell you to **** right off. Having done a bit of motor trading in the past I can understand why dealers charge such high prices when they have to put up with such ridiculous whingeing from their customers.

OK, no need to be abusive though. I'm surprised whoever moderates the forum hasn't deleted your posting

This is my first and last posting on this forum

Mind yu as Sirus is one of the mods - maybe not;).

Reading your first post, surely you said that we could be honist - and then you dont like the response! Put up or shut up - whingeing is my job :D:p

yup - yu need one 30A relay, one switch (reed - if yu want it to be magnetically controlled) and a few meters of wire.

I would suggest mounting it in a "fused" relay holder - just gotta tidy up the schematic fur ya.
