D3 lights on D1 !!

Has anyone thought of or tried to put D3 headlights and grill on a D1?
Yes D3 2006/2007 model headlights and grill on mid 90's D1.

I'm thinking of doing this as I have my D1 front end off and looking to rebuild it around the D3 looks. keeping the original wings and bonnet etc..

Appreciate any input good or bad.

could look a bit silly?

i really like the old skool 200 looks, obviously shiny lights arre never going to sit rightunless the rest of the car is pristine.

but, i'd commend you if you make a nice job of it!

if its the square side light and indicators, the light is ver deep - yu will loose half your battery spaces.

Hmmm losing battery space is not good but I could move them further back.
In another post that I've not updated for 10 days or so I have photos of my D1.
It's 300tdi and I've finished the majority of the welding.
Fabricating new sills, inner arches boot floor and almost a complete floor either side and behind the trans tunnel.
I'll be working on the front end this week and I'm waiting delivery of D3 lights.
I need to fab up a frame to locate new slimline radiator and electric fan along with a huge intercooler along with accomodating the D3 stuff.
I'll get pics up on my other post soon.
As before any comments, advice appreciated and welcome.

Bit rough and ready but you can see the potential issues, the headlamps recessed into the bonnet line on the D1 and the D3's headlamps are straight whereas the D1s angle slightly.

I personally don't think its gonna be possible, not just because of the width but because I think the headlamps are gonna be to tall for the front end.
