Hey guys,

Currently have a couple issues with my manual disco 2 TD5.

The first issue is selecting 4th gear from 3rd takes abit of a movement up and down to get into gear.

I have changed the bias plate along with the transmission fluid and it hasn't really seemed to help. Going from 5th to 4th it makes a crunch sound like the clutch isnt feel active. Even when in neutral and you put it into 1st gear you can hear a clunk of the gears activating.

The second issue I have is when in 3rd gear and I lift off the accelerator the steering wheel wobbles and there is abit of a rumble.. This is the only gear it really does it in.

Any help would be amazing :)

Sounds to me like the DMF is starting to break up ...............

Clutch and DMF Kit is needed. Bearing in mind how much work this entails I would only ever fit a LUK Kit not any other !!

BTW I am an ex Transmission Firm owner, now semi retired and own a small indie Garage business ;)

HTH :)

Thanks a lot for getting back to me :)

Wouldnt it be like this in all the gears? (vibration) and I presume this isnt related to my gear electing problems or is it?

Thanks alot

It will definitely affect gear selection because when worn and rubbers are breaking up the whole assembly will move forwards as you press the clutch pedal and also definitely cause a vibration. Not always gear specific, but you might also be able to produce a Vibe by shifting into other lower gears on overrun, the alternative is something really nasty inside the Gearbox itself.
Remember I am only going by your description of the issues, diagnosing anything via internet is iffy, but that said I have had many customers with very similar issues and DMF / Clutch Kit was needed.
