Recently acquired an ‘06 RRS S/C (6spd ZF) with known transmission issues.
In drive (D), it kind of “slips” or kicks when shifting up into the next gear. It downshifts perfectly. It does this at random, meaning sometimes it behaves and sometimes it kicks. It will eventually go into limp mode.
In sport mode/manual shifting, it shifts perfectly up and down EXCEPT for the 3rd to 4th shift (tries to shift, revs up and settles back into 3rd). I have to ease up on the throttle in 3rd-shift to 4th-wait a couple seconds-get back on the throttle. BUT if I’m driving it aggressively, the 3rd to 4th shift happens but not happily.
It has fresh fluid, fresh filter, Amazon solenoids installed by the P/O and a new separator plate in the valve body.
My proposed solution: install a zip kit and install new OEM ZF solenoids.
Before I go that route, does anyone have any other ideas? Thanks in advance!
