Hi, I have chance of a d2 td5 gs auto. when I went to look at it I was told it had 170000 miles on it. while driving it it didn't seem to have any go but may just be I'm not used to autos and the need to push the accelerator! also the high/low didn't work. so turned it down. he has since come back to me telling me it's all being fixed and asked if I was interested still, which I am. but while thinking back, the odometer was reading in km? so 272000km, which works out right, but the vehicle is not an import? a check says it is all clear and everything. should I be worried? I am in desperate need and have no funds to buy (he wants to swap for my Leon cupra mk1) any thoughts?

Thank you :)

Odometer can be changed by pressing the little black button on the instrument panel.

How well did you check the rest of it over?

I would want to know waht he has "fixed" as well.

Cheers

I know a fair bit about the tdi s as I have had one, I checked on total car check and the mileage is recorded in miles and works out the same. the disco is in superb condition with 10 months MOT, he has had to get the linkage bracket for the transfer box.

Appreciate all the replies :)

Some naughty people blank out the warning lights on the dash if they are showing when they should not.

Make sure you check it lights up when it should.

Cheers

Should look a bit like this

The guide is perfect, I think I ticked all the boxes, I know a hell of a lot of lights light up then go out, don't remember seeing any blank spaces that may suggest there covered, I know it's been converted to springs and has a lot of history as well, if the odometer can be changed to and from miles with the button, then it looks like it might be a good offer.

Thank you for the replies, have joined so many car forums that we're so unhelpful it's nice to get so many helpful replies!

:D
