See, that's my downfall - I've neither the experience, materials or tools to make my own stuff.
A mate is helping me do the conversion at his garage. We're gonna drill the welds out and remove the old box section, do the same with what's needed on the facelift slam panel and then weld it in place as per it came off.

Everything should then all bolt together as per a normal facelift model after that. :)

I might even get him to knock up something similar to this:

Trust me, I never had any experience making things till I bought my mig welder last year - then its been a big learning curve practicing and then making things (like my rack etc), but I think its been one of the best things I have bought. Next I would love a plasma cutter....

Things still on my wish-list to make are heavy duty front and rear bumpers, this forum sometimes is so bad, as you see someone else having a crack at something, and then you want to go.....it never ends......

Cant see them stopping anyone nicking the lights. some good metal light guards will help.

wrap around bullbar helps too, but if they want it, doesn't matter what you put there - they will have it.....

i have just done mine, its an early td5,but i had to cut away top panel and make up couple of brackets to hold top in place still not done bottom,i got a screw into the wing from the bottom of light seems to hold it tight, just need to bodge a bracket from other side to hold bottom of grill in place and secure light more, but was easy enough, although i wasnt intending cutting as much, but looks tidy enough and you cant see it when bonnet shut lol ,i did get the plastic infil parts for top made it abit more simple..
