cv grease !

have today put special grease into swivel house ! i wasunt sure how mutch to put in .so i put a 400 g cartridge in ,i put some in the top hole but mostly throught the drain hole via a grease nipple .this is an effort to stop the oil falling out down the brake disc cover & tyre .nothing came out of the drain mutch ! i hope this was enough?.the swivel is pretty pitted but theres no play in the swivel .

400g sounds to much to me, but it is a large void, does not have to be full like with oil.
Have you googled correct qty?

Edit I lied apparently qty is 375cc, so near enough to 400g

It may end up leaking out anyway as that special grease goes liquidy (technical term) when it warms up. You probably know this already, but you really need to be replacing the swivels and rebuilding with new seals etc.

Right pita of a job with those sachets but one that need doing.

I always find I can’t get enough of the stuff in the swivel, always seems to bung-up at the fill plug, even after sitting the sachet in hot water

do you have the swivel housing in full lock,because its much harder if it isnt

unless its in full lock ie lhs lh lock ,rhs rh lock the chrome ball will be blocking the filler hole

Yes I had that experience, with the chrome ball in the way and it took me a few minutes of struggling before I realised that merely turning the wheels would get the edge of the chrome ball out of the way so the grease would go in.
