why is it when i put the heater on it smells like curry?..its a 200 tdi we fixed and refitted the heater matrix last week and done coolant aswell, heater seems to blow hot now but does smell like a curry house,n before ya say it now i didnt leave a takeaway in back..

i dont know the answer but my belingo work van is the same,i leave the blower on one all the time because it smells worse if left then switched bak on.

This is not uncommon since land rover was sold to an Indian company, previously the heater emitted a fish and chip smell as standard, an optional extra was salt and vinegar at 15p.

i had same thing on a ford Granada years ago, turned out some smart arse, i was working for, though it'd be funny to sprinkle curry powder into the sill vents under the windscreen while i wasn't around. It was impossible to get rid of,
you could try sprinkling something you prefer the smell off into your heating system i suppose.

Funny that, I had a Freelander and the heater was smelling of curry then not long after I noticed the matrix was fooked, coincidence or what?
