With my newly acquired P38, i discovered that cup holders & thermo cups dont mix... (fortunately its easy to wipe coffee off of leather !)

So, with my reluctance to spend money & my urge to solve the problem... here's my soloution....

Its just a prototype, but works a treat !!

I feel your pain. My rangie doesn't even have the cup holders on the cubby box lid. Luckily I am not a fan of thermocups and I find a regular paper coffee cup fits nicely between the dash mat and the screen. Never had one fall off yet.
 
I just had a thought, if you get one of them Silicone Vaginas then im sure 1 it will be non slip (my wife is very slippery when wet) and 2 you can hold a can of coke in it at least??
 
I did that mod myself, I had to buy the whole console and just take the cup holder off and put it on mine, it was a lot cheaper (and easier) to do that way, as I didn't have to get one the same colour

Didn't know if I cud do that as mine doesn't flip over at all, Jus lifts up
