Hello here is another few questions please If anyone can help.
1.The cruise control works as it should except the light on the cruise switch on the switch panel dosnt light up when depressed turned on (is it a whole new switch or is there a bulb that can be replaced ?)

2. When im driving and no one is in the passenger seat, the passenger seat seems to wobble/shimmy vibrate a little, cant feel anything through the steering wheel,or drivers seat something or nothing leave it alone ?

3.what the correct way to check the autobox transmission oil level.

I think thats it everything will work once the above is done quite rare i believe for a P38 Lol.

thanks.

1. You can repleace the bulb in the switch. You need to take the switch out to do it. I think you need to remove the centre console to do that, although some people say you can use feeler guages down the sides of the switches to depress the mounting tabs, and slide them out.

2. They all do that sir.

3. Up to 1999 cars.... Ensure car is cold. Start car, put foot on brake, run through all the gears stopping for a second or two at each selection and return to park. Leave the engine running, open bonnet and check level of fluid on transmission dip stick. It's the orange ended one to the back of the engine by the bulkhead. After 1999 you fill with the engine running until it starts to run out of the filler (under the car).

You need to download yourself a copy of RAVE. The official Land Rover service manual. All the answers and more are there. Get it here: http://www.landroverresource.com/

From memory the tabs that hold the switches in are on the top/bottom - so if feeler gauges down the sides don't work, then try top/bottom - otherwise it is a take the whole thing apart job.

Tabs are indeed at top and bottom of switches. The tabs need depressing to get the switches out. Have never used the proposed feeler method so don't know if it works or not.

They are. Only about 5 screws holding the centre piece in though so quicker to whip it out.

Indeed... that's the route I usually go for aswell. You also have to take the drivers knee panel, and side trims off and the radio out (if you don't have an aftermarket one) to access the other screws - but once you've done it a couple of times, then it's a lot easier!

Thanks for the advice Guys will be tackling that job soon scratching my head with window fault.
Will post it and see if I can get anymore help on that one.

You might get lucky with the window squirting some electrical cleaning fluid in the switch. I think the window itself is powered direct from the BECM but might be wrong there.

Just found the other thread.... sounds like the switches are working fine and the issue is with either the power to the motor or the dodgy wiring!
