cruise control not working

Hi
I have recently purchased my diesel automatic freelander 1 on an 01 plate and the cruise control does not work.
When you press the master switch on the dash the red light within the switch lights up but using the set+ button does not set the speed.

Any ideas what the problem might be?

Need to have a proper diagnostic session carried out to monitor switch inputs and any related fault codes stored?

Do the brake lights work correctly?

Yes the brake lights work fine

Need to get a proper diagnostic carried out then to monitor all the switch inputs etc to determine what's not working correctly
