Hello
Just bought a 1997 3.9 disco and the cruise control is not working, the switch on the dashboard is not lighting up when pressed. Could it be the switch that is faulty or is there a fuse that may have blown, if it is the fuse where is it. If it is the switch would land rover dealers still stock them or has any members on here got on for sale, or could it be something else.
Many Thanks
Dave

If its the switch probably best off at the breakers yards or fleabay.

Dont know where the fuse is but you may find its just the bulb in the switch has gone. Have you checked the vacuum pipes havent split? (left hand side in the engine bay attached to the wing iirc) start there and follow the pipes to check for splits ;)

Hi bobbler
when the dash switch is depressed the set speed controls do not do anything, making me think its the dash switch but any suggestions are welcolme
Many thanks
Dave

If your vacuum pipes are goosed the switches will not do anything. My switch works fine but i havent got around to sorting the pipes yet and get fook all if i try to use it.

If you check the pipe connections for splits (and there are a few connections) you can usually get away with cutting off the split and reconnecting the pipe unless this has been done before as its quite common you will need to replace the pipe but still cheap enough to get hold of.

Better to try the free option before spending on what you may not need :)

If the fuse has blown then your rear wash/wipe or mirrors won't work either as they share the same fuse No.18 in the mainfuse box.
Pull the switch out and test the bulb there's two it's the orange one u need to test, i have just replaced my bulb today the old one lasted 12 years.:)
The most common problem as mentioned above is the vacuum hose splitting at the joints/connections, start at the T piece behind the washer bottle and trace it in both directions from there.
And :welcome2:to the Forum.

As Bobbler has said check all the pipes for splits, this is what was the problem with mine. Im not sure about your LR but on mine the vacuum pump for the cruise control is underneath the passenger side headlight below the jack, the pipe runs along the wing and acrosss the bulkhead and attached to a T splitter, just trace it round and check for splits and cracks.
