Hello

I am having problems (just like everyone else!) with the cruise not working. I have replaced vacuum hoses, checked diaphram and linkage to throttle. Vacuum pump is working ok, replaced the brake light switch and checked the fuses. it did work briefly after i sodded about with the old brake light switch/hose by the brake pedal, but now nothing. I don't get a click when i press the "set" button, but i can't remember that i heard anything (a "click") when it worked before. My horn works, but i don't have radio controls on the steering wheel. Unless there are any other suggestions, i think i will start looking at the ECU and/or relay, as in the guide on "Rave". I am slightly confused to where they are under the steering column/kick panel. I have read all the other posts and some say it is on the left of the column, some on the right and also the relay is a red, by the column as well, but i can't see it. could someone please point me in the right direction and also let me know about markings/numbers. Thanks in advance and i would just like to say, what a great site!

Kev

Befor you start changing things willy nilly, go through the trouble shooting procedure on RAVE in the electrical section. It will pinpoint your problem. Yopu will need a multimeter. The Controller and red "Relay" you refer to is located behind the dash, to the right of the steering column (RH drive) in the general area of the short walnut trim.:behindsofa:

Hi irish

That was the plan, to start going through the troubleshooting guide on "Rave", i just needed to know where the ECU was, to start checking.

Thanks

Hello

Just as an update to the cruise control problem. I have followed the "Rave" walkthrough and it turns out that the switches seem to be at fault. So i'm imagining, it will require replacing the spiral cassette. I haven't searched yet on how to do it, but is it a big/expensive job?

Thanks Kev

Hello irish

I'm assuming i've got to get the airbag out before i can get to the cassette? Will it mean disconnecting the battery to stop the accidental detonation of the airbag? I can't seem to find anywhere that explains how to remove the steering wheel or cassette. Any pointers would be great.

Thanks Kev

hello

found the diagram to remove the steering wheel. I can't see what screws they are to remove it. They look like torx one's, but the size "30" i have seems too small, does anyone know the size? Obviously i've got to disconect the battery, because of the airbag, but will this cause more problems? I've been told not to disconnect the battery unless i have to. What sort of things will i have to "reset"?

Thanks again
Kev

Make sure you have the radio and EKA codes. You will also have to reset the windows and sunroof. Make sure the ignition is off and any airbag system plugs are refitted when you reconnect the battery otherwise you will cause an SRS fault on the dash display
