hi i have a range rover p38 4.6 v8 and the core plug on filter housing is leaking oil i have to take off the front cover to get to it as i cant get into it any other way. If i undo the 9 bolts on the front cover am i in for any surprises? if i remove the front cover will the oil pump come off? if so what runs the pump? is the bottom pully on a key way? is it going to affect the timing if i take any of this off?
thanks

as James has said but you will have to drop the sump as there are 3 studs in the bottom of the front cover that go through the sump,as your in there take the oportunity to flush the cooling system and change the coolant, the hardest part is getting the front pully off the bolt can be a bit tight

hi thanks i have got it off now. where can i get a new front end pully from becuse mine has crack down it and where can i get the flat o rings from the ones pump/front cover thanks kev

youll have to try a breakers for the pully emmotts of colne springs to mind,as for the o-rings if there for the oil-cooler pipes take the old ones to a local motor factors or the main dealers,i take it your replacing the front oil seal while its off for the sake of a couple of quid and piece of mind as its only a 2 minute job while the covers off.

100% agree. The Crankshaft pulley aka Crankshaft damper would frighten you price wise from a Stealer.
As Clarkie says...look around the breakers but don't expect to get one for a fiver !!!!
