hey all not been for a while as not had ant issues lol

i seem to have the reverse of the hot start problem , a while ago it was starting fine cold but not when warm , however now its fine when warm but takes an age to start when cold i`d say 30 seconds of constant cranking then it fires up .

had new battery new in tank fuel pump new starter motor .

checked injectors and fuel lines .

my thoughts are fuel injection pump or glow plugs ?

Nothing like as easy as that. Removing manifold is best way to get at them. You will need a deep 12 mm socket an 8 mm socket and extensions and a wobbler for ease.

had a quick look and couldnt see them so more looking is needed :(

check your getting power to them before anything. difficult to belive all 6 go down at the same time!

You don't need six to go down at the same time. Just a couple duff will cause bad starts. You need three consecutively firing cylinders to have good plugs or it will struggle. Firing order is 1,5,3,6,2,4 work it out.

How does it do that Tony? There is no feed back from the glowplugs, glowplug fault just means the relay has not operated as far as I can see.:confused:

Don't know Keith. But i had a fault come up, can't exactly remember what the wording was. When i changed the head gasket, injection pump and timing chains a few months ago two plugs were down. Replaced them cleared faults and it has not been back since. So your guess is as good as mine. Other than that experience would tend to agree with what you say. But can't explain it. :)

I had this one:

GLOW PLUG (HEATERS) FAULT
Type: INVALID FAULT,LOGGED,INTERMITTENT
RPM = 8
WATER TEMP = 92
OCCURRANCE = 6

Would that have been an iffy relay rather than a faulty plug then?

Should not be any glow plugs at 92 degrees. Do you have an hot start fitted? I had at the time that maybe the cause. Maybe the two duff plugs were just coincidental.
