i've got a 200tdi and a couple of weeks ago got stuck in standon ford, the water came upto the exhaust and i got towed out backwards well since that incident i've had alot of smoke from the exhaust and at one point on my way home that day the temp went up 3/4 and warning light flashing pulled over let it cool down and temp was fine the rest of the way. Before that incident i had no problems what so ever.here are some vids from today, hopefully they work.

do an oil change. You might have drunk some water up the air intake or eggsorest.DONT RUN IT ANY MORE!You'll blow the block apart-I did that, not very good for compression apprently

cheers goonarmy i'll give that ago.
well i cant get the video's to work but when i have the lid off the expansion tank the water bubbles and has what looks like fumes coming out out.
when left idling there isn't much smoke but when you give it some revs theres alot off smoke.

The expansion tank beeing overpressurised and coolant boiling over or being forced out along with the high temperature mentioned earlier again points to Head gasket failure . There are test kits available to check for exhaust fumes in the coolant and for a pressure loss in the coolant system any garage / LR Independant will use one or both to confirm your Head gasket failure. Regards Jonathan

cheers jonathan i was thinking its a head gasket :mad2:.
with regards to the coolant level if i open the top when cold i.e the following morning then loads of air and gurgling happens and level seems to rise to correct level if opened when hot (engine off) then it spits water and air out and if the lids of when running then water bubbles and fumes come out but level seems correct.

What you have described is wrong and should not happen . The cooling system is designed to work under pressue at 15 psi and the symptons you describe indicate there could also be an air lock in the cooling system again possibly caused by a head gasket failure . If you take the expansion tank top off when the engine is hot it will spit and bubble while it is equalising the pressure and infact the water could boil . You should not get any bubbles / fumes in the expansion tank . I do not know if you are going to fix it youself but in order to save time / money get a garage to check for pressure loss in the cooling system and for combustion gasses in the cooling water . They are simple tests but will confirm the head gasket failure. Regards Jonatahan

i was going to do the work myself but i proberly will take it to a garage and get them to have a good look and do all the tests/work thats required to get it up and running.

The symptoms you describe suggest head gasket failure. Is the oil contaminated with water?
Weighing up the costs, I would be inclined to take the head off and re-build including skimming the head. You should also lap in the valves whilst the head is off. The garage will charge at least 1 hours labour for the testing and you will very likely be doing the head gasket anyway.

Good idea, When the head is off get it pressure tested for any cracks and skimmed , the valves lapped and new oil stem seals fitted .( might not need skimming if it did not get too hot and did not warp but it helps to ensure it is flat and seals properly with a new gasket . Regards Jonathan

these are the vids of the problems.....
