I was driving to work the other morning along the A45 at about 70mph when I thought I had run over some debris on the road. Shortly afterwards the battery light come on, no power steering, heater etc. Yup, alternator belt I thought.
On closer inspection the belt tensioner and pully had fallen out and dropped on the road, whilst I was hammering along. The bolt through the middle must have vibrated loose. No damage done inside the engine bay and I'm back n the road courtesy of a mate of a mate who has a pristine 300tdi engine he's breaking.
But, it could have been a lot worse......
