Now i've got most of the mechanicals sorted, i'd like to add some soundproofing to deaden sound in rear tub and bulkhead/underbonnet/seat box areas.

Anybody know any suppliers of decent stuff around Leeds.

Ideally waterproof stuff, sticky backed.
Although could use heavy felt type inside.

Plan to put some car carpet on inside surfaces, where visible (or rubber mats in tub)

there isn't any, i think the accustic stuff is the best but doesn't do much just keeps the engine nice and hot in the summer.

paddocks are doing a fair gd offer on a sound proofing kit for the bulkhead at £65 atm. i'm about to get, so not sure how it performs. Also famous four does a more expensive, which i think does the whole interior.

Seems a little pointless to me
An old series let's in noise everywhere
Let's face it even if you insulate the floor and bulkhead the door tops don't exactly fit tight and the glass is thin
Besides it gonna take away the fun of driving them
If you want quiet comfy and warm buy a car

Anti-sound? I got some noise cancelling headphones from Lidls, they work, take the low end rumble out of the mix, and you can hear conversation again..... but then again... I like the noise.:p:D

I did wonder about the noise cancelling headphones too Gem (for longer trips)

What type did you get, and how much were they from Lidl.

I'm not after a quiet vehicle, just one which won't hurt the kids eardrums when they come out for a ride with me in it.

So really only want to take the edge off the noise from engine/gearbox.

They were about 12 quid, they were made by Silvercrest. I'm not sure if they have any left, i got two pairs, they make a hell of a difference, not sure how they compare to expensive ones like Bose. Battery powered. Kids like them, (I should have got three pairs tho!).

only thing about sound proofing is that it's hard to know when to stop! you have to try seal all inlets/outs of sound in order to be effective. Being a musician/Drummer has meant in order to keep the neighbours from your door, you need to think of this.
So joins between carpets pieces are important, and experimenting also with different layers of material can also help.
Saying that, I havn't yet tried with a vehicle, but i'm sure the basics are the same.
