72 amp hour but I put a bigger one on last week funny enough I could not believe that the ah was so low ,I went out last Wednesday morning and just dead I have one of those packs where you just connect the leads but nothing ? so had to borrow the wife's car to fetch another but had a better one I think it was £96 but could have had the 72ah for £55 from euro parts

When ours was playing up I fitted an Optima Red-Top battery, that was about 2 1/2 years ago, no problem with it since (I did have to fiddle with the connections as the terminals were the wrong way round) !

Im thinking of getting a bigger 1 for my l series freebie 1, as im in and out ofit all day and locking unlocking it drains thebattery fairly quickly i also flattened it using the windows without the engine running.

Any suggestions?

Had the same proem with a starter pack simply was nt good enough to turn the freebie over.

Looking on fleabay all of the 110ah say leisure battery can i asume these wont have the amps to turn the freebje over?

They probably won't for any length of time. Maybe a few starts. They are designed for deep discharge not cranking power.

I think I paid about £79 for the Bosch so thought that was good. It's a quality battery.

Cheap usually means being let down at just the wrong time.

the important detail for a battery on a diesel is the cold cranking power ccp, from memory mine is about 680 amp,
remember, its needs as much current as possible on a cold frosty morning, glow plugs plus starter motor current, takes a lot out of the battery, and if it dosent throw the engine over quickly it wont start as well,
remember the starter motor is a series wound motor, basically, it will draw as much current as it can or needs ,
so it pays to get a correctly rated battery with a bit in reserve if possible

Ill get a free bat n alt test first mag e somethings a miss there but i think its the constant locking and unlocking (especially with this stupid single point entry) thats the prob, ive notbeen stranded yet but jm not confident..

I agree with John T - the CCA rating (cold cranking amps) is much more important that the capacity (Ah). I bought a cheap (£55) YUASA battery for my Disco 300 Tdi a few years ago and although it has never failed to start, on a cold frosty morning the engine turns over worryingly slowly. Very slowly in fact. I thought it might be the starter so I tried a Bosch S5 from another and it felt as though it was going to turn the engine around whilst still in the car...

The capacity (Ah) is only really important if you are going to be using a lot of high-drain electrical accessories.

Hence if you are budget conscious I would suggest do your research and go for a higher CCA rather than Ah.

My issue is in and out of than hippo all day some days (nature of the job) and it can be a heavy drain especially with the bloody single point entry, i havd flattened the battdry on a couple occasions when ive been inside messing without the engine running (gladly only while ivd been at home) prime example when i moved my switches to the cubby box windows up and down testing etc the battery drained too quickly imo..

I'm in and out of my Freelander all day, generally 5-12 times at least. Generally cover maybe 25-40 miles in total. never had a problem yet. I have the one that came with the car. Funny thing is, it's a better battery than was fitted to my brand new top of the range Skoda Yeti I had before this.
