Core Plugs

Hi
The centre core plug on the right side of my 300 tdi engine has gone and its directly behind the turbo, is there a cunning tip to replace it or is it a turbo and manifold off job

turbo off,refit with loctite around edge of core plug do other 2 at same time fit slightly further in than bevelled edge

Pls excuse me for resurrecting an old thread, the same core plug has just blown on mine, in an attempt to plan method of attack whilst waiting for recovery vehicle..
Is it possible to fit a new plug with just the turbo off or do I need to remove the exhaust manifold?

you need to remove inlet manifold ,then exhaust manifold with turbo
