Hi there,

whilst looking under the bonnet of my td5 i noticed a slight coolant leak from what looks like a plug on the n/s of the head, just behind the turbo? Is this a common fault and whats the best way to go about sealing it?

Thanks

Adam

replace it ,,they can rot from inside out if not engine not run on proper coolant mix ,you punch one side with a small chisel to push one side in and other out then lever out with molegrips etc ,to fit a new one select a socket that fits inside plug but not tight fit ,apply loctite around edge and tap in square till lip of plug is below edge of hole, dont use non setting sealer as this can allow them to pop out

Had a core plug go on the back on the engine on my 200tdi disco and was told it was either engine out or drill a hole through the bulkhead to get to it. I ended up patching it up with JB Weld and it seemed to do the job.
