Hi all you have a proble with my freelander v6 morning have purchased a new engine as the old one has died. I have removed the old engine etc whe I separated the automatic gearbox I removed it with the torque converter. The problem is I did not mart the position of the torque converter on the flywheel and I have lost the timing for the ckp se sensor does anyone have any info as to what position the crankshaft etc should be and the position of the torque converter or to ré time the ckpsends thanks in advance

Hi all new problem again I posted here some time ago about cooling problems with the v6 which I resolved by putting a new engine in however since the new engine was fitted I still had coolant loss minimal I finally found the source of the leak and repaired it with new parts or a new pipe but since the repair my cooling fans seem to come on every time I pull up at a set of lights etc usually staring after a 3-4 mile trip is this normal with the v6 I’m still losing coolant again minimal again is this normal I have bled the
Cooling system to the letter I have no overheating issues the fans eventually slow down and switch of just find it strange they come on a lot I’m hoping nodge may shed some light on this for me thanks in advance

The cooling system must stay pressurised so you need to find and fix the leak. The increased pressure stops the coolant boiling if it gets too hot. Monitor the coolant temperature to see if the fans come on because the coolant is too hot.

The fans come on at 106 degrees go off at 109 degrees using OBD live data when driving she is down to around 96-98 system is pressurised and holing pressure.

Is the AC on? The fans cycle on and off if AC is on.
Hi Nodge no Aircon is off. The fans come on a lot I open the bonnet the pipes are pressurised top hos is hot bottom hose is cold always after a run expansion tank level seems normal no signs of over heating it’s just bizarre. I changed the engine because of over heating problems rather than redo the heads etc so in reality I have no idea what is normal for the v6 just seems as soon as I pull-up ie lights Otto park up the fans always come on is this normal on this engine I have no idea but I am still losing coolant. The leak I had was on the top hose as the plastic T piece had failed so bought a complete pipe with tpiece etc and replaced it but can’t see any other signs of leaks ??????

Ps have good heat from the heater

At 70mph my v6 coolant would sit around 90 degrees. The air flow through the engine bay would keep it's temperature under control. When stopping the radiator and hose to it would be cold. It wouldn't take long for this to start warming up then get hot. The radiator would then get hot. This is the car trying to keep it's temperature under control. The engine will still be hot internally due to driving. If the coolant went up to 109 degrees the fans would switch on. When temperature dropped to 106 degrees the fans would switch off. They would switch on and off as needed automatically.

If i were to switch off the engine while hot on with a summers day with the bonnet closed, and leave it for 5 minutes, then put the electrics on only, the fans would probably switch on for a short period of time, even with the engine switched off. All part of it's plan of how to control its temperature.

Thank you lord hippo sounds like one is normal then maybe I’m paranoid with having a new engine and all the expenses that went with fitting love my hippo just want to make sure it’s normal and take care of her lol

It's normal for the cooling fans to start, within a minute or so once the vehicle has stopped moving.

The fans also run under AC control, which cycles them on and off. The AC starts automatically, when the heater control is set to the windscreen de-mist position.
