ever since i had the head gasket replaced i have become paraniod about the coolant level and check nearly every day, now its colder i turned the heater to max and noticed the coolant level drop a very small amount is this normal or am i loosing it ?

could be that the drop in temperature has contracted the water slightly.
Which would cause it to show a little less in your header.
But also are you checking when the engine is running or when turned off?
If its when its running then you will see a small drop as its moving through the cooling system.
If its when stationary it could be you have a very small leek or the pressure cap is loosing a bit,
My 1999 l series looses about an egg cup full every 6 weeks but i know its my pressure cap just havent got a new one yet.
Also as long as your level is above minimum at all times i wouldnt be too concerned.
This is what i think some of the others may have a bit more info..BUT.if youve had the gasket etc done and its the new type i think you should be OK.
Hope this helps and dont worry to much...
LIghting doesnt strike twice...

Unless you got a Freelander.....
