West wing I think
I've spotted coolant on the top of the water pump housing on my 2002 P38. I just can't get in to feel the exact place from where it's leaking. It's not much and I'd say it definately was coolant as it's recently been filled with new pink anti freeze. It's directly beneath the ac compressor. I've looked on the download manual and I think I can make out a bolted flange where the tophose connecting tube bolts to the heads. Please say that that's the only thing it could be. I've done a search and the only relevant contribution was a rad leak possibly being fanned back. It's a brand new rad and there's only a localised spot of coolant. Hope you can help with a diagnosis. thanks and regards P.S

I'm not sure, to be honest. I've never seen a/c fluid before. I've a sticker saying ultra violet'll show it up so I'll track a lamp down and check it out. I'll make sure my underwear's not white ! Thanks, and watch this space, it looks like I could be in for another laugh.:(

yer find red stuff on top of yer water pump which you say is directly below yer A/C compressor. If yer A/C has the red leak detector in it it may by YER A/C thats leaking.. now gravity will pull stuff downwards so have a look above the red stuff you've found.. AH! the A/C pump!!

now have a look to see if there is any sign of red stuff on it, possible behind the pulley, if so wipe it clean and start yer injun and leave yer A/C on fer 15_20 mins.
switch everything off and go have another look fer red stuff on yer A/C pump

Pheeeeewwww. I really though things were really, really terrible ! I thought I had a "gaylander" and I didn't realise that that's what you called a 2002 black P38 westminster amongst the knowing few on ladyzone. I need the re-sus trolly for myself ! Now THAT's a rescue. Thankyou, Slob.

As you've scratched your heads on this one for me, I thought the least I could do was to feed back my eventual findings. Obviously I'd checked all the obvious or I wouldn't have posted. I thought someone might have said "ah, that's the.................and it's commonplace and expensive" Having taken the fan and cowls off to get a good look, it was a small fracture in the top of the water pump housing oozing coolant. I've only just replaced it as well ! Thanks for your efforts, anyway. regards P.S

Blimey, I didn't realise you were clear bouyant. God knows how you diagnosed that. That's wot it turned out to be. (sits back in sheer awe n amazement). Have you got a 36mm slim open-ender? I drove off with mine still in the gubbins.:(
