Consumption woes

3.9 V8i- Love the car which starts & runs beautifully- two problems- 1. average consumption, after setting CO to specified figures, 5.1 kilos per litre; 2. when warm cuts out instead of dropping to idle- no problem to restart, but bloody nuisance!! Any suggestions? (Note- car well maintained & all logical attended to- this is an unusual problem....)

Sounds like it is running too rich.

We get 155 miles to 49 litres of LPG, and about the same for petrol, that's a 4.0 THOR Discovery II.

Welcome to the forum Taale. Difficult to comment on your fuel consumption figures as I'm not familiar with the format you are using. The last 3.9 (auto) I owned returned 20.5mpg (4.5 UK miles per litre) on a long journey which consisted of mostly motorway (70mph) & some 'A' class roads plus a few minor ones. Like all large engined cars, the consumption can rise alarmingly (even down to single figures) if used for short journeys. As for your problems, others on this forum will be better qualified to help.
