I'm about to begin constructing two custom storage units that'll sit on top of each wheel arch in the back of my 110. Only problem is, I'm not sure how to create the templates for the contours of the each tub side (starting from the flat of the wheel arch, travelling up to the hard top slit windows).

Have read that you can create such templates using cardboard, but was wondering how others have tackled this?

stand a bit of rectangular cardboard on the wheelarch so it touches the side. then you need a spacer, small block of wood or similar, thats bigger than the width of the gap at its widest point , hold a pencil on the spacer and run the spacer down the bodywork so the pencil marks the cardboard giving a replica of the shape of the side. trim the cardboard along the pencil line and it should be a close fit, if necessary repeat with a smaller spacer between the pencil and the side panel.to get a better fit. once youve done it once tis easy.

GENIUS! Right, I'm gonna give this a go tonight. Reminds me of cutting grooves for log cabin poles.

Why dont you fit them under the wheel arch ahead of the rear wheel, plenty of room there on a 110;).
