Just looking for advice, I’m doing up a 90 Hard Top with 3 front seats and absolutely no secure storage at all in the vehicle. Anyone got any ideas or suggestions for a secure storage compartment, probably have to sit in the back somewhere lockable so I can store stuff and not have to worry about it getting knicked. I’m thinking about the size of a milk crate or coolbox, I can’t help thinking there must be something that would sit right behind the bulkhead in between the wheel arch / benches either side maybe? I’m not looking for something that would take up the whole floor though

Any suggestions welcome

Ammunition boxes have beeen useds successfully since 1948 or you could build one in yourself across the front of the tub, bolted to both the floor and the bulkhead.
 
Just out of curiosity, but what do you need to keep secure? Depending on which Landy you have, there is storage under the seats. Otherwise, companies like Masai do storage solutions. Look in back issues of the various Land Rover magazines, there is always storage solutions being advertised

Thanks, sounds like a plan. It’s really just for keeping stuff in that you don’t want rolling around the tub, a bit like a glove box, first aid kit, manual, spares, flask and walking gear when we go out, sat nav when not in use etc. Main problem is the battery is under the passenger seat, ECU and fuses etc under drivers seat and no storage at all under middle seat just a plate then propshaft / exhaust etc

I have my tools in the battery box. I made a cover to go over the battery and the tools tightly pack around it, stops them rattling around. I do remember seeing a lockable dash glovebox advertised in one of the mags. Let me see if I can find it.

I do have some redundant space beside the battery reckon a small ammo box might fit down there for tools etc cheers!
 
If you're putting metal things in with the battery, don't forget to fit battery terminal covers, as anything metal bridging between the live terminal and the sides of the battery box may go bang bang.

I guess that’s why I favour a thinner box at the side rather than something that fits over the top, seems like quite a bit of useful space there which I hadn’t really considered before
