out of choice, would never have a condensing tumbledrier....
one of me daughters has one, takes ages to dry clothes,
whereas, our old normal tumble we have had fer 12 or more years, get well used, and vents out an adjacent wall.
couple years ago it stopped working,
so armed wiv me leccy screwdriver as op sez, took it all apart only to find the sprung earthing strap had rubbed & cut of the spigot that runs in a bearing/holds drum in place.
oh dear said I, get the mig welder out!
spot welded it, spun the drum, looked good, then welded the little fecker back propper.
been working brillient still ever since.
while it was all apart, Indeed it was In need of hoovering out,
and I replaced the drive belt at the same time.
12 years, or more, still going strong,
and its only a CREDA auto sensordry......

Oh, plus a little help from Mr MIG toooo :tea:

CREDA seemed to be a good make and last for ages.

Unfortunately we can't have a normal vented machine due to where it is in the house.

What does your meter read if you touch the probes together?

The stat should have virtually no resistance when cold and open if the machine over heats giving infinite resistance.

Set to 2000 ohms on the meter it reads numbers when probes touched together then drops to zero.

when put across the cold thermostat it reads 1.

Whereas the other thermostat (as there are two) reads numbers and then drops to zero.

So you've got one stat reading 0 ohms and one reading 1 ohm ?
If that's the case then I'd assume that they are both working.

Actually I wouldn't - I'd either trace the wiring to see what they are supposed to do or short them out, one at a time, to see if the heater works. I've got short lengths of wire with croc clips either end (mini jump leads) to do just this.

Fantastic!!!! Just shorted the thermostat and the heating element glows red. RESULT!!

Thank you all for your help and hopefully this thread will help others in the future.

So it's the stat you need not the element then bud? Iam back now if you send me the details over ill have a look for ya

Good glad you sorted it!! Can't have the Missus spending good money on a tumbly when you got a landrover to up keep lol

I'm so pleased to see Photonicinduction back on Youtube where he belongs. He did a farewell video a while ago saying he was going, but it's good to see him back. I see his partner has a couple of videos up as well.
