I have a 300 TDI disco and am thinking of upgrading (?) to a Defender 300 TDI. When my Disco has a problem it always seems to be something to do with the electrics/computers/immobilizer etc. Or rust!
My spannering skills are far better than my computer diognoistic silks so maybe now is the time to switch vechicles. So when did Land Rover start putting ECUs and the like into Defenders.... Was the TD5 the first?

So no immobilizer, electric windows, EGR unit etc? Sounds great too me!

I thought that they do have an EGR. My 300TDi doesn't have an ECU according to the circuit diagram and I've not come across one. It DID have an immobiliser but I removed it in about 15 minutes completely. I've since added electric windows, central locking, a total closure alarm system, microprocessor controlled lighting and I'm about to add a computer and dual battery system :D

egr can be just unplugged and ecu under seat removed , immobilisers like wise can be removed, edc (fitted to auto disco) is fly by wire so needs ecu
