Sorry, without a wiring diagram I would just be guessing ref the ign switch.
I would say start at the battery and work your way on from there, take nothing for granted, ie its new/looks good, that means nowt you need to confirm it actually works.
Have you load tested the battery?

Wouldn’t be that clued up on the electric side of things I connected an other battery nothing not even spark when connecting terminals which is strange what best way to start checking wires thanks for your reply

I ran a wire till the alternator lights on the lot I checked the continuity it reading -455 and beep could the mean fault in wire are the alternator itself thanks for ur replies

Have you checked the fusible links on early models seven fusible links hidden in loom in engine compartment wrapped in gauze material on later models engine fuse box see attached

Ok, was the temporary live you ran was directly from the battery pos + to the alternator + ? If so it means there's a fault in the existing wire. If "every thing came on" what ever that is, then did u try and start the engine?

Issue sloved thanks discool and the the rest Of the members I went over wires checking continuity and found the culprit . Replaced it with the one from my other disco prefect thanks again

Well, well who would expect that. The first pic shows the cable without any installation and a bit of corrosion but what else was wrong? The replacement looks good.
In all my time it's a first... so 'Very Well Done' :D ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I'll be looking at my link to the fuse box tomorrow. :)

Got the pics mixed up curiosity got the better of me so after I replaced it I stripped the old one to figure were it all went wrong
