Hi guys I currently own a td5 but have been offered a 07 plate disco 3 for quite cheap, but the only thing is its a commercial not the family car the td5 is! What's involved in making it a family car so to speak. I've not even seen the discovery so don't even know what's inside it. Cheers in advance.

The insurance wouldn't really be an issue as it would be on a traders policy. What's involved with change of use ie commercial to plg. As for price it's easily 5k cheaper than a similar year'd passenger disco thats with tax added hence my way of thinking. It's done 180,000 miles but full service etc

Not sure with a D3 but usually has a floor extension welded on to cover the Passenger footwell seat belts mounts etc are usually there. As said this has been my experience of car derived vans like the Astra estate/van etc..

Ouu a cheap D3 commercial... that sounds ideal... I'll swap you a knackered old D1 for it... I still have the seats for the back, although never use them as I use it as a van most of the time...

When you come to sell that could be a problem, particularly if you've not informed DVLA of the changes. Not sure about road tax as it would no longer be a commercial vehicle, but somewhere along the line there will be a an issue with purchase tax and VAT (even if you're not VAT registered). Personally I wouldn't bother to convert it.
