Had a genie trying to get out the exhaust on mine for weeks then found out it was the turbo seals and spindle were totally shot. How they just give up like that is amazing. Changed the turbo and cured it. Last week i put a new maf sensor in and turbo pressure valve and it's started again although no where near as bad so what iv'e done wrong i haven't a clue. Will have to get under again next week (when the monsoon stops) and see if i can see what i've done wrong. checked the crankcase breather (after fitting new bmw one) and found no oil is getting up there.

Hi Rimini, any idea what it actually feeds?
It's the Power Steering return pipe. It takes PS fluid from the rack, passing it to the solid pipes and on to the fluid cooler to be cooled. They are all flat, even when new, in the packet. It looks odd, but is quite normal. I suspect it's being used as a fluid pulse suppressor or flow restrictor. Don't worry about it though. ;)

thanks lodge. Any idea why iv'e started blowing oil off on the td4 after changing the maf and turbo pressure valve on the freelander td4.
It stopped after i changed the turbo so i can't understand why it would start again after changing these two items unless i've done something wrong. Changed the crank case breather when i changed the turbo and everything had been fine but i checked the breather and there's no sign of any thing getting up there as there was before i changed it

Where's it blowing oil from? Is the 6mm bolt missing from the timing chain cover?

No, sorry, i'm not very good at explaining myself. Should have said it's burning off as you can visibly see smoke out the exhaust
