Coil puked onto my Exhaust Manifold

I've got a problem with my 92/93MY Classic Range Rover with a 3.9 EFi Rover V8.

The car starts and run OK, the issue is the hot coil. It gets so hot after a few minutes that you can't put your hand on it. The previous one (intermotor) actually blew its top off and oil spilled onto the exhaust manifold.

[FONT=&quot]My dizzy is a Lucas 35DLM8 - [/FONT]It now has a Lucas DLB198 coil on it.

What could be causing the coil to get sooooooooooo hot?

Sounds like you may have an earth problem.

The culprit was the amplifier module on the side of the dizzy.

I will keep that in mind
