Just an update for the off topic ABS:
I followed the line, and also looket in RAVE in stead of Haynes as I did at first.
The cable is ok, and when I had a measuring at the correct points on the multiplug, the measurements was ok.
I also have a CAN Bus error on the ABS so I assume something's wrong there.
Might be because of Welding without disconnecting the battery terminals.
Don't know. I'd better search on the forums to see something abort that.
But the immobiliser is ok. Don't think I'm going to program some FOB's any more with the Hawkeye...

Any error codes in the abs computer?

If I need to program a fob with ma hawkeye again, I will do it whilst parked in the car park at the main dealers. At least it will save the cost of a recovery truck if it goes wrong.

I have CAN Engine signal error.
Strange. I have a car that I have fixed the bad fastening for the rear sub frame. The right front fixing that always break. On this car (also a 2001 18K4) I just discovered the same error. The result is that HDC error lamp lights up...

I found 5E14 (can interface DME timeout) and 5E15 (can interface egs timeout) on mine when playing with the hawkeye during recent problems.

Might be some timeout then?
That's what I was thinking. Sometimes the hawkeye won't go into a menu due to failed comms, or the live data doesn't update. Try it again without disconnecting anything or turning the ignition oft, and it goes in second time. Hence why I think checking live data is ok in the same menu in the fob (transmitter) programming option before programming fobs may be the way forward. This would give some assurance your talking to the computers ok.

It's just that hist error is constant.
It won't disappear whatsoewer...
FRUSTRATED.
And I have a ABS that's a bit odd compared to what I see other 2001's have...
This is MY ABS:

And this is what "other's" have:

Does anybody know if these are interchangeable?

There's 3 versions of abs

Wabco D 1998 - 2001
Teves MK20 2000 - 2001
Teves MK25 2002 - 2006

I've seen that on the Hawkeye, but I've seen several different models of ABS units on eBay. That's the reason I'm wondering.
If you send me a PM with your vin number I may be able to see what abs unit you should have, using microcat.

Since one has the Mercedes logo on then I'm not 100% certain but it is not likely to be from a Freelander!

Could be minor differences on the software between MB and LR?
