I have a CB that i want to fit to my Disco 1, i was wondering where you chaps who have them, run the antenna coax, i don't really want to drill any holes to run it, as i don't want another excuse for something to rust.

it needs to go from the front dash or overhead map pocket, to the rear of the roof bar.

or if there is a better way to do it please advise :)

I just ran mine under the carpets, out the back door and attached the twig to the rear bumper - it cuts down on range, but fine for green laning.

OK 2 ways.

1/ run coax from CB into roof lining and then across to above door/A post. Then out thru top of door to roof bar or passenger window if 3 door :D

2/ from CB into roof lining, across to A post down behind A post trim into dash behind fusebox out thru bulkhead and across engine bay then up the Apost trim along side windscreen (held in place with tape or adhesive cable tidy clips. ) and up onto roofrack/light bar

Or: From CB mounted on dash, run it down the side of the dash, under the panels securing the carpet down, up the rear pillar and out of the boot and up.

No holes needed to be drilled..

OR...

under headlining to passenger A pillar, down behind trim to dash. Pull out glovebox (two catches and it drops down, drill a hole in bulkhead next to bonnet release cable and rear wash/wipe pipe (try not to drill through that like i did!) then up behind washer bottle, follow panel joints to windscreen edge, then push into windscreen gulley with a bit of sillycone...

Just done mine to get rid of the magmount hanging out of the boot door, can only get a SWR of just over 2 though (compared to 1.1 on the mag) and thats with resistance of 0.04r to vehicle earth, not a huge amount of metal to a roof bar! you'll need ~6m of cable from the centre of the car on the inside to the centre of the car outside...

i've got mine fitted on a light bar above the windscreen. so i ran the cable down the gulley at the side of the windscreen and secured with silicone and then behind the washer bottle used an original grommet that was already in the bulk head and behind the glove box to the dash again no need to drill holes.

then behind the washer bottle used an original grommet that was already in the bulk head and behind the glove box to the dash again no need to drill holes.

I tried that but couldn't get my hand in to the grommet, so without removing the washer bottle to get my fat hands in, it was easier to drill a new hole in the bulkhead where i could reach it... same route as me though!

I wanted to make mine removable as its a family car/toy so I had the CB dash mounted and run the coax along the bottom of the screen and out the door squashed by the door rubber.

As it was bonnet hight there was enough give in the door rubber and beside the water never reached that high. (Mines a V8 :) )

I was wondering if the ground plain was any good on a roofbar, might rethink that one maybe
