looks like the clutch slave is on the way out again. leak from bell housing and fluid level dropping, occasionally needing to press pedal twice to get pressure.

can't remember the previous one I put in but it lasted just over a year, when it went I splashed out on the extra for a trw, that has lasted less than 2 years.

car only does a couple of k miles per year so I am guessing the amount of time it spends sitting - usually through winter - may have something to do with it.

is there a decent make out there or is everything pot luck now?

Just ring Paddock or one of the others, and ask for genuine/OEM quality.
They should last for 20 years if the fluid is changed annually.

oo I have a choice of three according to the dealer locator, pulborough, hove or Chichester are all about the same distance from me

i would phone them all, and see is any of them show a spark of interest in your vehicle.
I have found that dealers are a broad church when it comes to older cars. The one I used to go to in Surrey were fantastic, the one in Cornwall were totally useless.

I thought TRW is OEM. I've used their clutch master, slave and brake pistons and they have all been good. However, although I use mine very little in the winter, I always make a point of just driving 4-5 miles as a minimum every fortnight to avoid corroding brake parts etc. It's surprising in Autumn and winter how wet the underneath of a vehicle gets when not used and it can take days to dry out.

Buy yourself some brake grease , when you fit the new one remove the rubber boot and grease the bore and the inside of the rubber boot.
